There are one or two people among us who feel like giving up after receiving their report card in November. But all is not lost, not even for a drastic case.Let's look at somebody who did REALLY badly in November, let's say a mark of only 25%. For this November report card in BTA, we had several assessments whose total was 79. So this person's term work would have been just about 20 (that is, 20 out of 79 or 20/79 = 25.3).
Can this person ever recover? YES!
Do they have to high marks in everything for the rest of the year? NO!
Will I show you how easy it is to improve the mark? YES!
Remember, the year has only begun. By the end of the year there will have been lots of tests and assignments, chances to improve your mark. Last year, for example, the total possible marks for term work in this course by the end of the year was 297. Let's say our discouraged student only managed to get an average of 60 for the rest of the year's term work. SHAZAAM! They're already passing with a mark of 52%! (51.8%, to be exact)
The numbers below prove it.

They're passing, and all they had to do was get a 60 (or 135/220).
But wait, there's more! They still have the Final Evaluations in June, worth 30% of the year. Let's say our student puts in a final effort and gets 70% on the Final Evaluations (that is, 21/30). Not only do they just pass, they get a final mark of 57%. Here are the numbers.

This was not an impossible task. In fact, the discouraged student could easily do much better than a final 57% simply by making sure that they get more than the 60% average for term work that we've used as an example here.

Think of the people who had setbacks but went on to victory:
*- Terry Fox
*- Genghis Khan
*- The Little Engine That Could
*- Toronto Maple Leafs (OK, maybe not yet)
And hey, Einstein did not get great marks in school.
